Handy Emulator : For running Atari Lynx Games

Introduction : This guide will help you to play Atari Lynx games in one of the best Lynx emulators for windows

The tutorial is designed to get you up and running and may therefore not mention every available option but will almost certainly give you all the info you will need to run it.

Step1 : Get the files

To run the emulator you will need the following files:

1. The emulator itself, download here:

2. Atari Lynx BIOS rom, which I cannot give you the link to because its illegal. Just go on google and search for lynxboot.img. You will find it sooner or later.

3. Atari Lynx game roms, which you can also find through google.
Step2 :Setup the Emulator

Now, create a folder called LYNX in one of your drives and extract the emulator into it. Next, you will want to replace the lynxboot.img file that is already in the LYNX folder with the one that you downloaded; this allows the game to function properly and allows you to play commercial games.

Next, place your downloaded ROM files, which will be in .LNX format, in the ROM subfolder in LYNX.

Step 3: Configuring the emulator

Double click the HANDY.exe in your LYNX folder and the emulator will open. It should look something like this:

Now first things first. Click Options and play around with the various screen mode to find one than suits your pc

Then choose key definitions from the above drop down box to set the control configuration, you can conversely choose to play with a joystick by clicking Joystick Enable

To set the configuration just click on any of the buttons and then click on the key on the keyboard that you want to assign the button to.

Some games may require a full 90 degree rotation to play properly. For these games just go to options è and pick rotate screen left or rotate screen right.
